Abba’s House Ministries, in Short

Abba’s House Ministries was founded in 2004 by Kaleb and Hannah Tuimala after God called them back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan after an absence in Ann Arbor.
Kaleb and Hannah observed that too many youth in the rural areas of the UP were not being reached by other youth ministries or churches. They were therefore losing hope and using drugs, alcohol, and sex to fill their hurting hearts.
Abba’s House Ministries’ purpose is to share the love of Christ with these hungry youth and give them the training to go out and affect their world for Christ forever
.

Where do we get our name?
Abba is the Hebrew word for father as found in Mark 14:36 and Romans 8:15 which says “
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ “Abba’s House is therefore our heavenly Father’s house, and although we don’t meet in one permanent structure, where ever we meet is a safe place where we can meet with our heavenly Father.

What is the purpose of Abba’s House Ministries?
Abba’s House Ministries serves to reach rural youth with the love of Christ, but it doesn’t stop there. Once youth come to know the Lord, Jesus, they need training in order to share the love of Christ with their community and beyond. This training often has to do with dealing with past hurts, weaknesses, insecurities, and coming to know the heavenly Father in an intimate way in all of His perfection, beauty, and power.

How does Abba’s House Ministries accomplish this training?
One way we train youth is through weekly meetings. During these meetings youth have a chance to meet with other young people who love Christ and discuss challenges, accomplishments, and exchange hugs, laughs, and silliness. Every week leaders teach a Biblically based lesson that teaches specific skills relevant to the Christian life.

Right now, our theme is Set Apart, Built Up, Sent Out. Every week we explore a different part of this theme.

  • · During the Set Apart week we explore what it means to live a life so that others will ask why we are different. (Ephesians 5:1,2)
  • · During our Built Up week we explore how God wants to build us up with His word, His love letter. (2 Timothy 3:16)
  • · During the Sent Out week we learn the skills to GO and share the love of Christ with our community and our world, and then we will actually go out and use them. (Matthew 28:19,20)
  • Another way we train youth is through special events like retreats, lock-ins, youth conferences, and even music festivals. These special events allow our youth to break out of their routines and experience teaching and worship in ways unique from their everyday experiences.
